Brief History of Oduduwa University

Oduduwa University (OUI) is a private university located at Ipetumodu, Ile Ife, Osun state. The institution was established in 2009 and officially accredited and recognized by the National Universities Commission of Nigeria as a higher education institution on 3rd November, 2009 (certificate number: 38).

Who is the owner of Oduduwa University?

Oduduwa University (OUI) was founded and owned by a Nigerian educationist and businessman Rahmon Adegoke Adedoyin (born January 1, 1957) into a royal family of the Akui ruling house in the ancient city of Ife in Osun State.

Rahmon Adedoyin graduated from the now Obafemi Awolowo University in 1983 where he obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics Education. He also went further to attend Centurion International University, California where he obtained his master’s degree and went on to bag a doctorate degree in 1996 from All Saints University School of Medicine, New York City.

However, in bid to revamp education in Nigeria, Rahmon Adedoyin founded The polytechnic, Ile-Ife in 1984 and Oduduwa University in 2009. He was also a member of the Nigerian Institute of Industrial Statisticians.

Rahmon Adedoyin Death Sentence

Rahmon Adedoyin, owner of Oduduwa university is also the owner of Hilton Honours Hotel, Ile-Ife. In 2021, there was a mysterious death case that happened in the hotel concerning a murder of OAU master student, Mr Timothy Adegoke who was last seen at Hilton hotel.

After several court cases over the controversial death of Timothy Adegoke, an OAU student. It was concluded that Rahmon and two of his hotel worker are found culpable of conspiracy to commit murder and unlawful killing of the deceased.

The court, in a ruling on Tuesday, May 30, 2023 found Adedoyin and three of his staff guilty of murder and conspiracy. However, Adedoyin was sentenced to death by hanging.
